Make no mistake, Lockdown has been tough for people globally. Everyone yearns for normality. Now at least the signs are starting to be more promising.
For the last 12 months, choirs all over the world have been silenced by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. With the ever increasing rollout of a vaccine in the UK this could soon be about to change.
Of course, we don’t have a crystal ball and cannot tell you any more than anyone else about the ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown. For the moment, at least, choirs continue to meet on zoom although there are already mutterings about what might happen when we potentially return to the rule of 6. At the time of writing there is a suggestion this might be at the end of March 2021, although things change daily. So our usual disclaimer applies – we are not here to give advice or make recommendations about what you can or cannot do.
All we can say at this moment in time is that if everything proceeds according to plan, we hope to be back out on the road from Summer onwards recording choirs. Until then, we continue to offer a number of virtual solutions to help choirs keep singing together.
Since April last year we have made an ever increasing number of virtual videos for choirs. These have ranged from church choirs looking to continue their services online to helping community choirs sing together as well as bringing together newly formed corporate choirs. The latter has often included people from all corners of the globe. We are expecting to be making these videos for another few months yet, but nevertheless it is a good time to start hoping for a return to more normal choral singing in the future.
